Teaching Artist in Residence in Phoenix

Strengthening School Music Programs. Empowering Young Musicians.

Harmony Project Phoenix’s Teaching Artist in Residence (TAIR) program brings professional musicians directly into public schools, working alongside music educators to expand learning opportunities and strengthen school music programs.

Every student deserves access to exceptional music education, regardless of their background or ZIP code. Through hands-on instruction, small-group coaching and personalized mentorship, our teaching artists help students grow in confidence, musicianship and academic engagement. This additional support helps young musicians reach their full potential in a supportive learning environment.

Supporting Teachers. Inspiring Students.

Our teaching artists collaborate with school music educators to provide:

  • Individualized Instruction: Small-group lessons, sectional rehearsals and targeted support tailored to students’ musical needs.
  • Classroom Collaboration: Professional musicians working alongside teachers to strengthen band, orchestra and other school music programs.
  • College & Career Pathways: Mentorship encouraging higher education and opportunities in music and beyond.
  • Equitable Access: High-quality music instruction at no cost to students or families.

Our Impact

During the 2025–2026 school year, TAIR achieved:

  • 543 students served: Across 12 public schools in three school districts.
  • 15 teaching artists and teaching assistants: Contributing approximately 52 hours of weekly instructional support.
  • 100% high school graduation: Among participating seniors.
  • More than 80% above our original student enrollment goal: Reaching 543 students against a target of 300.

Sustained partnerships connect professional musicians, dedicated school educators and young people eager to learn.
